Without a doubt restaurants in Anchorage are suffering during this COVID-19 pandemic. All dine-in services are banned in the city, but many restaurants have decided to remain open and are providing pick-up and delivery options. Here is a list of some amazing local restaurants Anchorage residents can order from during these difficult times.
Beartooth Theatre Pub, 1230 W. 27th Ave., Tel: 907-276-4200 Pick up orders from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. All menu items are available for pick up. The restaurant is also offering new growlers for pick up as well, with valid ID. When orders are ready, staff send a text to customers to come into the building. Customers are to remain in their vehicle until a text message is received. Beartooth is only accepting credit card payments over the phone. There may be a wait on the phone to order, but the wait is definitely worth it.
Kava’s Pancake House, 100 Muldoon Road, Tel: 907-332-5282 and 2415 C Street, Tel: 907-375-0419 Pick up orders from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Kava’s has some of the best breakfast and dinner plates in town. For delicious island-style meals look no further than Kava’s. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable.They have the best mac salad in town. From pancakes to chicken teriyaki and more, Kava’s is great for everyone in the family. Both Fireweed and Muldoon locations are open for take-out service.
Monster Pizza, 343 W. Benson Blvd., Tel: 907-561-9999 Hours are Mondays-Thursdays, 3 to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Sundays 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. This eatery offers both pick up and delivery within the Anchorage area. Monster Pizza offers a variety of pizzas as well as the option to build your own pizza. Monster Pizza also offers salads, subs, and wings with a variety of different flavors. The menu is probably one of the most reasonably priced in town and their delivery service is one of the fastest.
Pizza Olympia, 2809 Spenard Road, Tel: 907.561.5264 Offers a variety of Greek and Italian cuisine. This family-owned restaurant has amazing pastas and other traditional foods from the Mediterranean region. Most menu items come with homemade soups or salads and fresh baked bread. Their whole menu is available for pick-up and delivery. They are open until 10 p.m. and are closed on Sunday.
Ray’s Place, 2412 Spenard Road, Tel: (907) 279-2932. Open for pick up Monday through Friday until 9 pm. Rey’s Place has some of the best Vietnamese food on the west side. They have great pho, noodle dishes, and curry. They also have some of the best pad thai in the city. Their staff neatly boxes up pick up orders as nicely as they would plate them for dine-in service. Everything is hot when you get there and their staff are very friendly, even when it’s busy.
Seoul Casa is a Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant at 601 E. Dimond Blvd., Suite 6. Tel: 907-344-3333 Customers can call and order from them every day except Sundays. Kalbi nachos are perfect comfort food.
Taco King Tel: 907-771-6000 is known for its Mexican food. There are several locations in Anchorage, and all of them are open for pick up and delivery. They have fast service for all types of orders. If you’re hungry you might want a king burrito with the rice and beans. Just wanting a snack? Get some of their tacos; you can order them a la carte or in a combo.
Tommy’s Burger Stop, 1106 W. 29th Place, Tel: (907) 561-5696. Tommy’s is the best hole-in-the-wall burger joint in town. They have traditional burgers as well as a whole list of their specialty burgers. The Aloha burger, with pineapple rings and teriaki sauce, might be the best, especially when paired with their onion rings. If you want a really good burger Tommy’s is the place to go. This small eatery is located in the heart of Spenard and is hard to miss with its bright blue exterior. They are open for pick up and their whole menu is available.
Uncle Leroy’s, 701 W 36th Ave., Suite 18, Tel: 907-868-1287. Missing your specialty coffee? This place has the solution. They also have whole beans for sale. Call ahead and they’ll even bring your order to the car.
