Corey Coolidge has lived in Alaska for three years, coming to the great state to be with his sweetheart, whom he married last summer. Enrolled in UAA with journalistic ambitions, you can find him out on the YouTube Channel Dead Unicorn where he reviews tabletop board games.

Oksana Kennedy, assistant director of photography

Oksana Kennedy is an Alaskan of almost five years. She was born in Russia but grew up in Dallas. She had always had a love for photography. Her passion grew last summer when she traveled around the state to gain experience in landscape photography.

Ronan Klancher is a journalism and public communications major in his junior year. Ronan played for the Seawolves hockey team his freshman year. He is the sports editor for The Northern Light. When he graduates, he wants to pursue a career in sports journalism or go into teaching.

Austin Michie, director of photography

 Austin Michie is in his final semester in the Journalism & Public Communications program. He has traveled a lot in the last decade but Alaska has been home for the past twenty years. Austin can usually be found outdoors behind a camera in the mountains or on the trails.

Alexia Novelli, director of advertising and marketing

Alexia Novelli is a lifelong Alaskan, basketball player, and journalism and public communications major. She plans on taking her journalistic skills into the advertising and marketing field after graduation (hopefully somewhere warm). She also enjoys cooking and art.

John Novotny, assistant director of online

John Novotny is an Alaska-born senior in the journalism program. He works for The Northern Light as the arts and entertainment editor. With every waking moment, he desires to be playing video games or watching or reading critiques and analyses. After he graduates, he hopes to write about video games full time.

Taylor Olson, director of design

Taylor Olson is a junior double-majoring in graphic design and journalism & public communications. When she’s not working as a freelance graphic designer, she enjoys drawing both traditionally and digitally. In the future, she hopes to advance her graphic design career into the advertising market and dreams of creating an ad featured on a billboard.

Nick Parker is a junior with the hopes of being a journalist after his college career. He’s also working on a creative writing minor, wanting to write fiction in his free time. Although some would disagree, comedy is Nick’s forte.

Cassia Scarborough lives in Portland, Oregon, where she teaches aviation science at Portland Community College. She is a commercial pilot, ground instructor and mother of two young girls.

Paola Banchero has been teaching Magazines since 2004. This year has been particularly interesting because almost all production work was accomplished while the staff was “hunkering down” at home.
